It is with great honor we share this news, our Glow Airlie Redflesh single varietal was awarded “Best of Show” in the 2023 Northwest Cider Cup. Glow is a rosé cider made from a rare, red fleshed apple named Airlie Redflesh grown organically in the Willamette Valley. Flavors range from tropical fruit and cotton candy to mountain strawberries and lemons.

The Northwest Cider Cup, is the regions longest standing judging of ciders and perries and has been organized since 2016 by the Northwest Cider Association. Celebrating it’s 10th year, the region submitted 279 entries from 51 unique commercial cider and perry makers, across WA, OR, ID, MT and British Columbia. Only 19% of entries were awarded this year, competing in 19 categories for up to 57 medals - one possible gold, silver, and bronze. Alpenfire took home 3 medals in the categories of High Tannin Dry, Specialty Fortified, and RedFleshed Ciders Dry. The judging took place on June 12th by cider makers and professionals from across the United States and the United Kingdom with a 50:50 Male/ Female judging split. The awards were announced on June 16th to a crowd of over 200 industry professionals and cider enthusiasts in Portland, OR.
